Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) Re-dedicates Worship Building in Surrey, BC Amid Pandemic

<img src="BANNER Brethren gathered outside the surrey chapel.jpg" alt="Joyous group photo of members of Iglesia Ni Cristo gathered outside newly beautified chapel in Surrey, BC, Canada on a sunny afternoon" />

INC chapel in Surrey, BC, was recently renovated and expanded to accommodate the growing number of INC members. It was among the worship edifices rededicated to God by Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo Manalo, in a worship service via live streaming from Manila, PHL.

Another beautiful house of worship in Canada renovated by Iglesia Ni Cristo brings their total worship buildings completed during pandemic to 143 worldwide.

SURREY, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA, July 30, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Despite the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC or Church Of Christ), an international religious organization, overcame all impediments and completed the renovation of a house of worship in Surrey, BC.

The church building, formerly owned by the Surrey Pentecostal Assembly, was purchased for approximately $2.3 million in October 2002 by the INC through voluntary contributions from its members. It then went through renovations to meet INC worship building standards and was first dedicated on October 11, 2003.

As for the INC congregation itself, it was established in June 1996. Hence, the INC in Surrey has been part of the community for the past 25 years.

The 328-seater worship building, located at 15145 68 Avenue, Surrey, BC V3S 2B8, once again opened its doors while adhering to current government restrictions. Via live video streaming from the Philippines, INC Executive Minister Brother Eduardo V. Manalo led a special worship gathering on July 24 to mark the 107th Anniversary of the INC, which re-emerged in the Philippines on July 27, 1914. The gathering also served to simultaneously dedicate several houses of worship in different parts of the world, including the newly renovated chapel in Surrey. To date, 143 worship buildings have been built and renovated during this time of the pandemic.

Despite unavoidable delays due to COVID-19 restrictions, the project officially received its Fire Safety Renovation Permit from the Surrey Fire Department in January 2020 and its Demolition Permit from the City of Surrey in July 2020. More than $1.3 million worth of renovations went into beautifying the property, all through the voluntary contributions of INC members.

District Minister of British Columbia, Brother Moriel Cadacio explained the importance of houses of worship. “It is important for us inside the Church Of Christ to beautify the house of worship because it is the house of our Almighty God. His name dwells in the house of worship, and we would like to give honor and glory to our Almighty God. It is for the worship service to our Almighty Father. That is the reason we did everything, through prayers, striving hard, with all the brethren helping so that the renovation would be completed although there were hindrances along the way.”

During the renovation, the facade was demolished and rebuilt in accordance with the INC’s architectural design, including the adding of three steeples that are prominent in worship buildings worldwide. The building went through extensive upgrades and fitted with a new, expanded raised podium and choir loft, redesigned ceiling, modernized lighting system in the sanctuary, and a balcony on the second floor to accommodate more worshipers. Stairs were built, one on each side of the foyer. Sanctuary windows were replaced in offices and rooms.

Other upgrades were also done in the building’s facilities. An automatic standby generator was also placed, while a new intrusion system, a security video system, a brand-new organ, and audio and video systems were also installed. Volunteers worked on the exterior of the worship building which was finished with a completely new stucco wall. An open concrete walkway and canopy on one side of the building leading to the podium were also added. Finally, concrete walkways were built to facilitate exits to the front and rear doors of the sanctuary.

The Iglesia Ni Cristo was first registered in the Philippines on July 27, 1914 by its first Executive Minister, Brother Felix Y. Manalo. After 107 years, it has spread to 158 countries and territories with its members belonging to 147 nationalities and races.

Could Raw Material Supply Shortages Slow Down the Economic Recovery?

Read more about what are the recent shortages of raw materials affecting the furniture manufacturing and construction industries.

Many steel and aluminum mills – especially in overseas locations where vaccination rates are still very low – are struggling to reboot production levels to keep up with rapidly increasing demand.”

— Formaspace

AUSTIN, TEXAS, UNITED STATES, July 27, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Back in February, we first wrote about the shortage of computer chips bedeviling the automobile manufacturing industry – at the time, we dubbed it the “chip-pocalypse.”

But soon afterward, we began to hear from supply chain managers that, yes, while chips were indeed in critically short supply, the bigger story was that, in the words of one manufacturing exec in the Midwest, “chips were an easy scapegoat – it’s not just chips, everything in the supply chain is jammed up now.”

So what are the main reasons that many raw materials are in short supply, and when will things return to normal?

We decided to focus on what is happening with material supplies in our industry, furniture manufacturing, to see what is going on and how supplies might ease up in the coming months.

But first, here is a useful tip: if you are contemplating a new order, talk to your Formaspace Design Consultant now about placing your order earlier than usual to avoid the impact of longer lead times for some materials. And if you are flexible on material choices, your Design Consultant can also advise you on which material options have shorter lead times.

Steel And Other Metal Raw Materials

Here at our factory headquarters in Austin, Texas, we use a lot of carbon steel to fabricate the famous heavy-duty frames found in all Formaspace workbenches, tables, workstations, and desks.

We also source a lot of stainless steel for making furniture destined for settings such as cleanrooms, laboratories, as well as hospitality settings, such as food service kitchens.

As part of our Made-in-America manufacturing philosophy, we use locally sourced steel and other metals, which gives us a significant lead time advantage over other manufacturers that are reliant on overseas metal suppliers.

Nonetheless, there is increasing pressure on steel and other metal supply chains overall due to production cutbacks during the pandemic, which let inventory levels fall off significantly.

As a result, many steel mills and aluminum foundries and mills – especially those in overseas locations where vaccination rates are still very low – are struggling to reboot production levels to keep up with rapidly increasing demand.

US tariffs on foreign steel and metal imports, first introduced by the Trump administration to encourage American steel manufacturing, are still in place. The tariffs have given domestic metal manufacturers increased pricing power.

For example, the CRU Index for carbon steel, a widely-used benchmark from the Commodities Research Unit (CRU), which tracks the future commodity prices of Hot-Rolled Coil Steel (HRC) produced in the Midwest, has leaped from around $450 a ton last year to around $1,650 this month – a 360% increase.

Reasons For Concern

– Prices for raw metal materials are way up, hot-rolled coil steel (used in extruded frames, for example) is up 360% compared to last year.
– Demand for metals bottomed out during 2020 due to low demand, causing mills and foundries to cut production. But demand has returned, creating major shortages.
– Many overseas mills and foundries are still experiencing high levels of Covid infections among their populations, which is slowing a return to full production capacity.
– US tariffs on imported metal products keep overall metal prices higher in the US.
– Demand for metal products is also rising due to increased construction activity. If the proposed Infrastructure Bill is passed, demand for metals used in bridges, wiring, etc. will increase further.
– Other metals not commonly used in furniture production, such as copper and lithium used in green energy projects, are also in short supply and could slow down efforts to build new green infrastructure projects to address climate change.

Reasons For Optimism

– Vaccination programs are helping protect workers in the US, Europe, and the UK, allowing their workforces to return to full strength.
– Higher prices are helping metals manufacturers restart factories to increase production, which should eventually lead to lower prices.
– The Biden administration may elect to ease US tariffs on imported metal products, which would reduce raw material prices for US manufacturers.

Engineered Materials And Laminates

Here at Formaspace, we offer our customers a wide variety of material options – even our so-called standard products can be customized by selecting among different work surface material options to meet the unique requirement of your application.

These material options include work surfaces made from high-pressure laminate (HPL); long-lasting engineered epoxy; durable, chemically-resistant phenolic resin; soft HDPE (to prevent scratching products); ESD protective surfaces (to prevent damaging sensitive microelectronic circuits); stainless steel (discussed earlier); and even maple hardwood surfaces (discussed in the next section on wood-based products).

Reasons For Concern

– Some work surface materials, such as epoxy countertops, are currently experiencing significantly longer lead times than normal – in some cases, twice as long as compared with April 2020.

Reasons For Optimism

– Production lead times should begin to drop as factories return to full-scale production and ease the backlog of orders.
– Talk to your Formaspace Design Consultant about placing your order early, as well as looking at material options to minimize lead times.

Wood-Based Raw Material Products

Compared to many furniture manufacturers, Formaspace (and our sister entity, Formaspace Contract, which creates custom solutions for the office, hospitality, and other related markets) does not use a significant amount of wood or wood-based raw materials in making furniture – we typically use heavy-duty steel to frame our furniture products.

The one exception is specialty woodwork surfaces, including our popular hardwood maple tops used in both office and industrial applications, or our bespoke hand-made desks, credenzas, and conference tables that feature unique custom wood selections, such as live-edge walnut.

This is in contrast with other furniture manufacturers (especially those making products for residential or hospitality markets) that may heavily rely on white pine, chipboard, or MDF materials that are hidden underneath upholstered or plastic laminated surfaces.

But it’s the adjacent construction market that is suffering the greatest impact from the overall shortage of dimensioned lumber and other wood and wood-based raw materials.

Construction industry analysts point to the sharp increase in lumber prices (especially plywood*) that is boosting the average cost of a new home by $36,000, according to the National Association of Home Builders.

According to researchers at North Carolina State University’s College of Natural Resources, the price of lumber hit an all-time high in May 2021 (at nearly $1,700 per thousand board feet), which is a 400% price increase compared to May 2020.

*Paying around $10 for a ½ inch sheet of plywood is a distant memory. Searching for a sheet of standard plywood today, the retail price at Home Depot is $22. According to US BLS statistics, the Producer Price Index cost of plywood dipped to 195 basis points in December 2019, in May 2021, it had jumped up by 200% to 392.

Why the big increase in wood prices?

Will the Energy Market Go from Bust to Boom in 2021?

energy market trends 2021

drillbits repair station oil pipe rehabilitation setup

Formaspace can manufacture custom solutions that make quick work of many kinds of specialized tasks, such as the oil pipe rehabilitation setup shown above that helps oil field workers keep drill pipe in serviceable condition.

oil and gas testing laboratory

Formaspace manufactures custom laboratories for the petroleum industry; shown above is an oil completion lab that features ample casework storage and long-lasting, chemical resistant phenolic resin worktops for years of service.

As the nation (and world) recovers from the Covid pandemic, we look at the top 10 issues that are affecting the energy markets.

The energy market has been caught up in the Culture War before; just think about the fights over Hummer gas guzzlers and energy-efficient lightbulbs.”

— Formaspace

AUSTIN, TEXAS, UNITED STATES, July 27, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — 1. Could Energy Prices Break New Records As The World’s Economy Recovers From Covid?

As of this writing, the July contract price for West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil has broken $70 per barrel, bringing it in line with prices from 2018 – e.g. before the price falls that predated the precipitous cliff edge collapse of oil futures into negative dollar territory last spring during the initial phase of the pandemic.

Will oil prices go higher? Yes, but the question now is by how much and how quickly.

There are still imbalances in the economy – for example, employment is still 7.5 million workers below the pre-pandemic levels, yet many employers are having trouble finding workers. But vaccination rates are going up here in the US, in the UK, and, by summer, in the EU, all of which should help drive up demand.

On the supply side, the upstream oil and gas industry (including the all-important unconventional fracking sector) needs to recover from extensive layoffs, well shutdowns, mergers, and bankruptcies that have taken place over the past two years before it begins firing on all cylinders again.

The Fed is signaling now that we should expect higher prices overall in the coming months. It may even have to raise interest rates this year, and Fed Chair Janet Yellen says we could see inflation rates as high as 3% this year (though she expects it to be a temporary phenomenon).

In this scenario, $100/bbl oil prices may be here quicker than we know it.

2. The Biden Administration Races To Tighten Oil And Gas Industry Regulations Unwound By The Trump Administration

For oil and gas E&P companies, the news out of Washington has to feel like a rollercoaster ride, as regulations loosened by executive orders of the Trump administration have been reversed one by one by the incoming Biden team.

These wide-ranging actions include canceling recent oil and gas lease options, curtailing oil and gas drilling in Alaska, revoking the Keystone XL oil pipeline permit, and seeking to reinstate limits on off-gassing (flaring) methane and other gases at wellheads.

The Biden administration has also pulled back on lawsuits against California and the other states who sought to instate higher mileage and more stringent pollution requirements on new cars and trucks.

Some things don’t appear to be changing: oil and gas exploration off the coast of Florida and the eastern seaboard appears to remain off the table, for now, thanks to Florida’s pivotal role in election politics.

3. Activist Shareholders And Court Challenges Redraw The Future Of The Fossil Fuel Industry

May 26, 2021, may go down as one of the most remarkable days in the history of the oil and gas industry.

According to Barron’s, that day, a newly-formed environmental activist hedge-fund, “Engine Number 1,” won three of the 12 seats on the board of Exxon Mobil, allowing it to advocate for “energy transformation” at the oil giant from an unprecedented position within the company’s executive leadership.

On the same day, a court in the Netherlands ordered Shell Oil to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 45% by 2030, as calculated from 2019 levels.

(This news comes as Shell completes its “Project Reshape” designed to restructure the company to cut the cost of its oil and gas production by 40%. The company anticipates another major round of US layoffs and has recently announced a sale of its Deer Park refinery operations in Houston to Pemex.)

What is the long-term impact of these revelations of May 26, 2021?

Two areas to watch:

One, will financial ratings agencies downgrade oil and gas companies; and two, will Big Oil companies continue to be able to finance expensive oil and gas projects, or will they follow the path of Big Coal and watch the financing spigot dry to a trickle?

4. Energy Policy Returns To The Frontlines Of The Culture Wars

Now that the Coronavirus pandemic is on the wane and arguments over wearing masks have lost their impact, new political fights are looming on the horizon.

The energy market has been caught up in the Culture War before; just think about the fights over Hummer gas guzzlers and energy-efficient lightbulbs.

But prepare yourself for another round of fighting over energy policy, rather than an important discussion of how best to make policy that serves our economic and environmental needs.

For example, an oil development company in Colorado took out full-size billboard advertisements trolling the outdoor sports apparel company North Face who wouldn’t sell their employees jackets with the oil firm’s name embroidered on them.

Meanwhile, President Biden was criticized by fans of gas-powered pickup trucks for “virtue signaling” by test driving a prototype all-electric Ford F-150 Lighting pickup truck.

5. Energy Consumption In 2021

According to the latest information available from the government’s Energy Information Administration, domestic energy use during January and February 2021 has generally caught up with usage during the same months of 2020 and 2019, with residential energy use a little bit ahead (possibly due to Work from Home and other factors) and transportation energy use a little bit behind (possibly due to fewer airline flights and less driving before the effect of vaccinations took hold).

The interesting quality of the love seat is that it has detachable backrests that users can take out and create a new style as per their choice. This gives room to users to be creative and come up with new decor and a new look for their patio every once in a while.

The dimensions for the love seat are 31.5 x 31.5 x25.2 inches which are fairly enough for two people to sit comfortably. Bluu Patio has also decided to offer a complete seat to go along with your love seat. Just add the required items to your cart.

100- Gallon Deck Box

The Gallon Deck box is designed to help store all your things easily. It is a box made of Polypropylene and Resin. You can use it anywhere you please. It is, however, an ideal addition to your patio. Not only will it help you store all the lining but it will also allow you to create a space for two people to sit. The deck box is priced at $209.99.

Blackhawk Floors Offers Hardwood Floor Recoating Services in Phoenix, AZ

An industry leader in hardwood flooring in Phoenix is now offering a unique service for floors.

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA, UNITED STATES, July 21, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Representatives with Blackhawk Floors, Inc. today announced that it is now offering hardwood floor recoating services in Phoenix.

“Recoating is an easy, one-day process extending the life of your floor for the years to come,” said Jason Elquest, owner and spokesperson for Blackhawk Floors. “Recoating is recommended when the finish shows wear but is not totally worn or scratched through to the wood. It is the best way to improve the look of a dulling floor.”

Recoating in its simplest definition is applying a fresh coat of finish to your hardwood floors. Recoating, according to Elquest, is often confused with refinishing a hardwood floor. Unlike refinishing, you are not removing the original finish on the floor. You may recoat a floor to change the gloss of the finish or to simply reapply the same finish that was already on the floor. It’s normal for hardwood floors to be recoated more than once during the life of the hardwood floor.

“We use Bona water-based finishes—the leader in the industry,” Elquest revealed, before adding, “Our clear, high-build finishes won’t yellow or change color over time. Bona water-based finishes dry quickly, in one to three hours, and cure up to 90 percent within three days. They have no harmful fumes and low VOCs, producing beautiful floors without putting your health at risk.”

Blackhawk Floors prides itself on its commitment to providing superior workmanship at competitive prices. From custom wood flooring installation and finishing of solid floors to pre-finished wood floors, Blackhawk Floors has always been the leader.

The company is recognized by National Wood Flooring Association Certified Installer, National Wood Flooring Association Certified Sand & Finisher, and the National Wood Flooring Association Certified Wood Flooring Inspector.

Elquest pointed out that Blackhawk Floors’ in-house wood mill shop allows it to create custom moldings, transitions, treads, risers, curves, borders, designs, and more. In addition, Blackhawk Floors provides all clients with highly trained in-house personnel.
