As the fight over the nickname of Washington’s professional football team heats up, sales of its consumer apparel are down. Sales of merchandise emblazoned with Washington’s logo and nickname fell 35 percent last quarter.
The D.C. police are asking the public’s help after a woman was assaulted in Northwest on Sunday. The police say the woman was near Oliver Street and Western Avenue at about 11:30 p.m. when a man approached her with a knife. They say he tried to take off the woman’s clothes, but was unsuccessful. The woman ran away.
New events are being added to this year’s National Book Festival, including a discussion with writers whose books were made into movies, and cooking demonstrations by top chefs. The festival on Saturday runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. It’s moving inside to the Washington Convention Center after a decade on the National Mall.
