Edgecombe Furniture | Expansion

Project slated to add 56,260 square feet of operational space and new jobs

PITT COUNTY, N.C. – October 26, 2026, 10:00AM, For Immediate Release

Pitt County is pleased to announce the expansion of Edgecombe Furniture, an existing Pitt County manufacturer of high-performing commercial furnishings. Edgecombe Furniture has been operating in North Carolina for nearly a century and in Pitt County since 2017, when the company purchased a 140,000 square foot facility. Company leadership is planning a nearly $4 million expansion which is slated to add 56,260 square feet of state-of-the-art operational space and add at least 10 new jobs at the Greenville, N.C. facility. The company is an approved vendor for major hospitality brands, including Hilton and Marriott.

"This expansion represents an exciting milestone for Edgecombe Furniture as we deepen our roots in Pitt County, enhance our operational capabilities and continue delivering exceptional commercial furnishings to our hospitality partners like Hilton and Marriott," said Mary Walter, Edgecombe Furniture’s Chief Financial Officer.

The project is supported by an $80,000 Building Reuse grant which was approved by the Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) and announced, along with other projects, by Governor Josh Stein in an article released on October 15. The grant will support improvements to the company’s existing facility, allowing Edgecombe Furniture to continue to strengthen its capabilities, add new jobs and better serve their existing customers as well as their employees.

The project was managed by the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC) with Pitt County Economic Development providing management for the Building Reuse Grant. The Pitt County Board of Commissioners approved support, including a 5% grant match, on October 2, 2026.

“We are pleased that Edgecombe Furniture is committed to growing in Pitt County, and we are committed to supporting them through programs such as the NC Commerce Building Reuse grant,” said Kelly Andrews, Pitt County Economic Development director. “Pitt County, EDPNC, and other economic development partners will continue to seek ways to support their continued success.”
